Beyond International Women’s Day (March 8), a law declaring March as Women’s History Month was passed by Congress and signed by President Reagan in 1987.

Started in 1951, by 1987, Lillian Vernon Corporation was the first woman-founded company traded on the American Stock Exchange. Today, the Lillian Vernon legacy continues to influence lives around the world.

In 1998, Vernon was inducted into the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame.
