It’s that time again…time to get the kids ready to go back to school. Summer is coming to a close, and thoughts are turning to new classes, new teachers, new friends, and new school supplies. To help you with your back to school shopping, we’ve created a back to school checklist of several different items, including the standard necessities and a few things you might not think about until the need arises.
- Pens and pencils

- Erasers
- Highlighters

- Art smock

- Water bottle
- Change of clothing (in case of accidents)
- Portfolio
- Sketch pad
- Note pads
- Pocket tissue packs
- Notebooks/composition books

There are many styles, patterns, and themes available when it comes to things like pencil cases, backpacks, book bags, and lunch boxes. What theme or color scheme you decide to go with is often determined by the age of the child you’re purchasing the item for, their individual tastes and preferences, and their school’s requirements and restrictions, if any. Your preschooler or kindergarten student will have very different taste in backpacks and lunch boxes than your graduating high school senior, and a child who attends a school that requires uniforms will not have the freedom to choose clothing the way children whose schools allow “free dress” do.
If you’re wondering about trends for back to school in 2018, some of the new themes we’ve seen emerging are centered around exotic animals and fantasy creatures (think sharks, unicorns, and mermaids), emojis, holographic items, metallics, pom poms, iridescence, and sequins. This year, it’s all about the glam! From a sequined backpack with magic reveal feature to heart-shaped rainbow stickers to decorate a laptop, cell phone case or locker, sparkle is in for back to school.
Summer is almost gone, and school is right around the corner for most of the country. We hope our back to school checklist helps you accomplish your annual school supply shopping a little easier this year.
