Whether you’ve already decked your halls for Christmas, or just beginning, it’s always a good idea to combine the old with the new: Family heirlooms and keepsakes, mixed with fresh ideas for the new season. When the boxes come down from the attic, take a quick inventory of what you should keep and what needs updating. Is your tree skirt looking so 10 years ago? Do you need some festive pillows on your chairs or sofa? How about decorating a mini-tree in your child’s room this year? Whatever you decide, show off your personal style and get ready for Santa!
Following are some tips you may want to incorporate into your home:
-Personalize your stockings and tree skirt to match. Start a new tradition and save money by re-using each year. Shop our matching Natural Pines Personalized Stocking and Tree Skirt HERE.
-Add a simple monogrammed throw blanket to update your sofa
-Add magnolia or boxwood garland to your mailbox
-Let there be light: Make a path of lanterns with battery-operated pillar candles leading to your front door, or use on your mantle, buffet or dining table without having to worry about a hazard
-Make a string of garland with your Holiday Cards attached to rustic string. Add candy canes to get you in the spirit.
-Use decorative multi-use beverage tubs for anything from fat wood, gifts, bubbly, wine, ornaments and gift baskets. Fill up with small gifts, wine or the recipient’s favorite things.
-Use beautifully wrapped (empty) gifts to decorate (and give height to) a buffet table, or to set a show-stopping scene under your Christmas Tree. Use different size boxes but similar patterns or colors, such as different plaids, golds, silver, etc.
-Make a side table into the Advent display, and light one large pillar for each week of advent. Decorate with fresh pine, holly and boxwood.
-Change your sofa pillows to fit with the festive season or personalize for yourself or as a great gift.
-Use garland and bows to hide unsightly lighting wires inside and out
